A card that is going to be shuffled thousands of times has different requirements from one that sits in a binder. Black-core linen stock is the standard for playable cards: the embossed linen surface reduces friction so decks shuffle cleanly, and the black core makes the card completely opaque.

Opacity matters more than anything else in a game card. If a strong light behind a card reveals anything about its face, the deck is compromised. Black core solves it absolutely, which is why every serious game uses it and why we do not offer anything thinner for play.

Backs must be identical across a deck and centred within tight tolerance, because a card whose back is printed off-centre is a marked card. We hold registration tightly and check it, and we will tell you if artwork with a fine border is going to be unforgiving.
